The Nehru Place paradox

There is no shortage of hardware in Nehru Place. You can buy a cartridge, a cable, a refurbished machine or a spare part within a few minutes' walk of almost any office in the district. What the market is less good at is the thing you usually actually need — someone who will come up to the fourteenth floor, diagnose why the machine is jamming, and fix it there.

Buying parts and getting a machine repaired are different services, and the market is optimised for the first. The result is offices surrounded by suppliers who still cannot get a printer looked at without carrying it downstairs. That gap is most of what we do here.

The towers, not the market

Above and around the retail floors, Nehru Place is a serious commercial district — corporate offices, chartered accountants, law firms, travel and export businesses, IT companies and back-office operations, spread across towers on both sides of the district and out toward Nehru Enclave. These are the printers we are called to: shared workgroup machines and multi-function units that several departments depend on, where a failure stops more than one person working.

Document-heavy businesses dominate here, and it shows in the machines. Firms that print and scan contracts, filings, invoices and statements all day put real load through their equipment, and the automatic document feeder tends to wear out long before the print engine does. An ADF that misfeeds on every third page is one of the most common complaints we get from this part of Delhi, and it is a distinct repair from anything to do with printing.

Why proximity matters here specifically

Nehru Place is genuinely difficult to move equipment in and out of during business hours. Parking is contested, the pedestrian areas are crowded on weekdays, and getting a multi-function machine down from an upper floor and across the district is a job in itself. That makes on-site repair worth more here than in most places — and it makes being ten minutes away in Kalkaji genuinely useful, because a missing part means a short trip rather than a lost day.

Cartridges, and what gets sold here

Because supplies are so easy to buy in Nehru Place, offices here end up running a mixture of whatever was available that week — genuine, compatible, and refilled cartridges of wildly varying quality, sometimes in the same machine over a few months. That inconsistency causes real faults: background greying, poor fusing, and drum wear that arrives early. If your print quality has been drifting and nobody can point to a cause, the supply chain is worth examining before the printer is. Our refilling process exists partly to make that variable go away.
